Welcoming Dr. Dylan Mangani, Ph.D. to RAR Institute

RAR Institute is pleased to warmly welcome Dr. Dylan Mangani, Ph.D., as the Semester Two Instructor for the Associate Degree in Political Science Programme.

Dr. Dylan Mangani is a scholar of Politics and International Relations with more than a decade of academic and professional experience. His areas of academic expertise encompass International Relations, Political Science, Security and Governance, Peace and Conflict Studies, Nonviolence, BRICS-related studies, Migration, Identity and Citizenship, African Governance, and Political Corruption.

Dr. Mangani holds a Ph.D. in Politics and International Relations and brings extensive experience in university-level teaching, undergraduate and postgraduate supervision, academic research, scholarly publications, conference participation, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and project management. His multidisciplinary academic background enables him to connect theoretical perspectives with contemporary political and international issues.

Academic and Professional Experience

Dr. Mangani currently serves as Director of the African Prosperity and Governance Agenda and as a Research Fellow at Nelson Mandela University. He previously served as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the International Centre for Nonviolence (ICON), Durban University of Technology, where his academic work focused particularly on peace, conflict, violence, community safety, and peacebuilding.

His wider academic and research engagement includes migration, identity and citizenship, Russia–Africa relations, BRICS, governance, security, and contemporary political developments in Africa. Throughout his academic career, he has contributed to research projects, practitioner dialogues, international conferences, scholarly publications, and public discussions concerning political and international affairs.

Teaching Responsibilities at RAR Institute

As Semester Two Instructor for the Associate Degree in Political Science Programme, Dr. Mangani will contribute to the academic development of students across the Semester Two curriculum, including:

• PS201 — Political Theory (Classical & Modern)
• PS202 — Comparative Politics
• HIS201 — World Political History
• ENG201 — Professional Writing & Research Skills
• ECO201 — Introduction to Economics

Through these courses, Dr. Mangani will support students in developing their understanding of political thought, comparative political systems, world political history, academic and professional writing, research skills, and foundational economic concepts.

The appointment of Dr. Mangani further strengthens the RAR Institute’s commitment to providing students with meaningful opportunities to learn from experienced scholars and engage with diverse academic perspectives.

His expertise in politics, international relations, governance, security, peace and conflict, migration, and contemporary global affairs will provide students with opportunities to connect classroom learning with broader academic and real-world discussions.
