2. What is your Student ID, and which programme are you currently studying at RAR Institute?
Answer: My Student ID is 523024, and I am currently pursuing the two-year Diploma in Academic Research Studies at RAR Institute. The programme has provided me with valuable opportunities to develop my understanding of research methodology, academic writing, data collection, and other essential aspects of academic research.
3. What is your educational background before joining RAR Institute?
Answer: Before joining RAR Institute, I completed my matriculation in 2021 at a community-based high school. Although I had completed my secondary education, opportunities to pursue higher education in the refugee camps were extremely limited. I therefore had a strong desire to find further educational opportunities and continue developing my academic knowledge and abilities.
4. When did you join RAR Institute, and what motivated you to begin your studies?
Answer: I joined RAR Institute in June 2023. My primary motivation was to continue my education and pursue my academic dreams. After completing my matriculation, I faced considerable difficulties because higher education opportunities were not available in the refugee camps. When RAR Institute introduced an opportunity for Rohingya students to pursue higher education, I saw it as an important pathway to continue my studies. This opportunity encouraged me to move forward with my educational ambitions and work towards a better future.
5. What were your academic knowledge, confidence, and skills like before joining RAR Institute?
Answer: Before joining RAR Institute, my academic knowledge and skills were limited to my previous educational experience. I had little understanding of formal academic research, research methodology, academic writing, and critical thinking. However, after joining the institute, I gained valuable knowledge and developed important research, leadership, and analytical skills. These learning experiences have significantly strengthened my academic confidence and personal development.
6. What challenges did you face when you first started your studies at RAR Institute?
Answer: When I first started my studies at RAR Institute, I experienced some difficulties, particularly internet connectivity problems and limited access to appropriate study materials. These challenges sometimes made it difficult to participate in online learning activities and complete academic tasks. However, I remained committed to my studies and continued learning despite these limitations.
7. How have your academic confidence and participation developed since joining RAR Institute?
Answer: My academic confidence has improved considerably since joining RAR Institute. It has also helped me understand how academic research can contribute to addressing important social and community challenges, particularly the Rohingya refugee crisis. I now recognise the importance of systematic investigation and evidence-based research in understanding complex issues.
10. How has your academic writing, referencing, critical thinking, and research skills developed?
