1. What is your full name, and how would you introduce yourself as a RAR Institute student?
My full name is Mohammed Kaisar, and I am a student at the Rohingya Academic Research Institute (RAR-Institute). I joined the Academic Research Studies programme in 2023 and am currently continuing my studies. Through RAR Institute, I have been developing my knowledge of scientific research methods, research ethics, academic writing, and critical thinking. The programme has also helped me strengthen my academic confidence and prepare for further educational opportunities.
2. What is your Student ID, and which programme are you currently studying at RAR Institute?
My Student ID is RAR-ARS-523034, and I am currently studying the Diploma in Academic Research Studies.
Through this programme, I have developed a stronger understanding of scientific research, research ethics, academic writing, research practices, and the processes involved in preparing academic work.
3. What is your educational background before joining RAR Institute?
Before joining RAR Institute, I completed my Matriculation education under the Myanmar Old Curriculum at a community-based school in the refugee camp under Shwe Panyarnandaw. I also completed the Refugee Higher Education Access Program (RHEAP). These educational experiences provided me with an important foundation for continuing my academic development at RAR Institute.
4. When did you join RAR Institute, and what motivated you to begin your studies?
I joined RAR Institute around 2023 and have continued my studies since then. After completing Class 10 in the refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, I had limited opportunities to access higher education. RAR Institute provided an opportunity for Rohingya youth who wanted to continue their education and develop their academic abilities. I was particularly motivated to strengthen my academic knowledge and learn how to conduct research properly and ethically. I wanted to understand scientific research methods, develop research proposals, and improve my critical-thinking abilities.
5. What were your academic knowledge, confidence, and skills like before joining RAR Institute?
Before joining RAR Institute, I had basic academic knowledge but limited understanding of scientific research methods, theories, research ethics, and academic writing. I also had limited experience reading, analyzing, and preparing academic research papers. As I have progressed through the programme, I have developed a much stronger understanding of research methods, research ethics, and academic writing. I have also become more confident in preparing academic assignments and research papers, and my overall research skills have continued to improve.
6. What challenges did you face when you first started your studies at RAR Institute?
When I first started my studies, I did not have much academic knowledge or confidence in higher education. One of my main challenges was balancing my studies with my job responsibilities. I also found some theories and research concepts difficult to understand when they were first introduced by instructors and professors. However, through dedication, hard work, continuous learning, and academic guidance, I gradually overcame these challenges. Today, I feel much more confident in understanding both basic and advanced concepts related to research and academic studies.
7. How have your academic confidence and participation developed since joining RAR Institute?
Since joining RAR Institute, my academic confidence and participation have improved significantly. At the beginning, I sometimes found theories and research concepts difficult to understand. Through continuous effort, practice, and guidance, I became more confident in asking questions, sharing ideas, and participating in academic discussions. This development has encouraged me to become a more active, engaged, and independent learner.
8. What important knowledge and skills have you gained from your programme?
Through my studies at RAR Institute, I have gained important knowledge of research methods, research ethics, academic writing, and critical thinking. I have also learned how to understand, organize, and prepare academic research papers more effectively. These skills have provided me with a stronger academic foundation and helped me approach research and academic work in a more systematic way.

The programme has significantly improved my understanding of research methodology, research ethics, and academic writing. I have learned how to understand research concepts and develop academic papers in a clearer and more systematic manner. The programme has also helped me recognize the importance of following appropriate research procedures and ethical principles when conducting academic work.

My academic writing, referencing, and research skills have improved through regular practice, assignments, and academic activities. I have learned how to organize academic information more effectively and use appropriate references to support my work. At the same time, I have developed stronger critical-thinking skills and learned to examine and analyze information more carefully before using it in academic work.
11. How has your ability to search for, evaluate, and use academic sources improved?
I have learned how to search for reliable academic sources, evaluate their credibility, and use them appropriately in research and academic writing. This has helped me become more careful when working with information and understand the importance of using credible and relevant sources to support academic arguments.
12. What have you learned through assignments, presentations, examinations, research projects, and classroom activities?
Through assignments, presentations, examinations, research projects, and classroom activities, I have developed many practical academic skills. I have learned how to manage my time, use appropriate citations, follow research ethics, understand theories, and apply academic knowledge to different topics. Research projects and examinations have strengthened my understanding and critical-thinking abilities, while presentations and classroom activities have improved my confidence, communication skills, and ability to express my ideas clearly.

RAR Institute instructors and designated course instructors have supported my academic development through clear explanations, constructive feedback, and continuous academic guidance throughout the programme. They have helped me understand difficult theories, research methods, research ethics, and academic writing. They have also encouraged me to ask questions, participate actively, and improve my academic work. Their support has helped me become more confident and independent as a learner.
14. Which instructor, course, lesson, or academic activity has had the greatest positive impact on your development, and why?
Kaisayr Husein, Sayama Shwe Yi and Dr. Mohammed Hashiru have been among the most valuable influences in my academic development. Their clear and accessible explanations helped me understand scientific methods, theories, and research concepts that initially seemed difficult. Their guidance encouraged me to ask questions, think critically, and develop my own ideas. Through their lessons and academic activities, I also learned how to participate actively, communicate respectfully, and engage with people from different backgrounds. Their support has influenced not only my academic development but also my personal growth. I have become more confident in expressing my opinions, sharing ideas, working with others, and approaching academic challenges. Their encouragement has also strengthened my confidence in pursuing higher education and motivated me to continue learning, researching, and developing myself as a student.

My communication, presentation, public-speaking, teamwork, and leadership skills have improved through regular presentations, group activities, discussions, and collaborative academic work. These experiences have made me more confident, respectful, and effective when communicating and working with others. They have also helped me understand the importance of cooperation, active participation, and shared responsibility in academic settings.

One of my major achievements since joining RAR Institute has been developing a stronger understanding of academic research, academic writing, and research ethics. I have also become more confident in presenting my ideas, participating in academic discussions, and preparing myself for higher education. These developments represent important milestones in my ongoing academic journey.
17. How has your education at RAR Institute influenced your future academic, career, and community goals?
My education at RAR Institute has strengthened my interest in research and higher education. It has improved my academic, communication, and research skills and motivated me to pursue a future career in which I can use knowledge and research to contribute to my community. I hope to continue developing myself academically and use the knowledge and skills I gain to support positive social development.
18. What has been the most important change in your academic confidence since joining RAR Institute?
The most important change has been my increased confidence in understanding academic theories and research concepts. At the beginning of my studies, many concepts were difficult for me to understand. Through continuous learning, practice, and instructor guidance, I have become more comfortable asking questions, participating in discussions, presenting my ideas, and completing academic work independently.
19. How has your experience at RAR Institute prepared you for higher education?
My experience at RAR Institute has provided me with a stronger foundation for higher education. I have developed skills in research, academic writing, referencing, critical thinking, communication, and presentation. I have also gained a better understanding of research ethics and academic responsibility. These skills have increased my confidence and helped me feel better prepared to continue my education and take on future academic challenges.
20. Looking back from the day you joined RAR Institute until today, how would you describe your overall academic, personal, and professional development?
Looking back from before I joined RAR Institute until today, I can see significant development in my academic, personal, and professional abilities. At RAR Institute, I have improved my research, academic writing, communication, presentation, and critical-thinking skills. I have also become more confident in expressing my ideas, participating in discussions, and working with others. Personally, and professionally, the experience has helped me become more responsible, disciplined, and prepared for higher education and future opportunities. At the same time, my development is ongoing, and I continue to learn and improve through my studies at RAR Institute.
My Academic Journey at RAR Institute
My academic journey at RAR Institute began around 2023, after completing my Class 10 education in the refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. At that time, opportunities to access higher education were limited, and I was looking for a meaningful way to continue developing my academic knowledge and skills. RAR Institute provided me with an opportunity to continue my education and develop skills in scientific research methods and research ethics. I joined the programme with basic academic knowledge but limited experience in scientific research, academic writing, research theories, and ethical research practices.
In the beginning, I faced several challenges. Understanding theories and research concepts was sometimes difficult, and balancing my studies with my job responsibilities required significant effort. However, I remained committed to my studies and gradually developed greater confidence through continuous learning, practice, and guidance from my instructors. Throughout my studies so far, I have gained knowledge of scientific research methods, research ethics, academic writing, referencing, critical thinking, research concepts, and research paper preparation. I have also learned how to search for reliable academic sources, evaluate their credibility, and use information appropriately in academic work.
One of the most important developments in my journey has been the improvement of my academic confidence. I am now more comfortable asking questions, participating in discussions, presenting my ideas, communicating with others, and working independently on academic tasks. Presentations, assignments, research projects, examinations, and classroom activities have all contributed to this development. The support of my instructors has also been an important part of my academic journey. Their explanations, feedback, encouragement, and guidance have helped me understand difficult academic concepts and motivated me to take my education more seriously. Their support has strengthened my confidence in pursuing higher education and continuing my development as a learner.
As I continue my studies at RAR Institute, I can see significant development in my academic, personal, and professional abilities. I have become more knowledgeable, confident, responsible, and disciplined. At the same time, I recognize that learning is an ongoing process, and I continue to develop my research and academic skills through the programme. My journey at RAR Institute has taught me that education is not only about completing a programme. It is also about developing the knowledge, confidence, discipline, critical-thinking ability, and responsibility needed to continue learning and contribute positively to society.
