1. What is your full name, and how would you introduce yourself as a RAR Institute student?

Answer:
My name is Rofik Alam, and I am a student at the Rohingya Academic Research Institute (RAR Institute). I am a motivated and dedicated student committed to developing my academic knowledge, research abilities, and practical skills. As a RAR Institute student, I am learning how to understand community challenges, conduct research, and identify practical, evidence-based solutions. My goal is to apply my education and research skills to make a positive contribution to my community and support the development of Rohingya youth.

2. What is your Student ID, and which programme are you currently studying at RAR Institute?

Answer:
My Student ID is 523049, and I am currently studying the Diploma in Academic Research Studies at RAR Institute. The programme has helped me develop stronger knowledge and practical skills in academic research, critical thinking, community analysis, and evidence-based decision-making. It has also taught me how to understand real community issues, collect and analyse information, and apply research knowledge to practical situations.

3. What was your educational background before joining RAR Institute?

Answer:
Before joining RAR Institute, I completed Class 10 at Kayaphuri High School during the 2021–2022 academic year. I also studied through the Refugee Higher Education Access Program (RhEAP) and successfully completed a Diploma in Business Management and Leadership from Rohingya National College. I also worked as a Burmese language instructor at Mukti Cox’s Bazar, where I taught students at school. This experience helped me develop my communication, teaching, classroom management, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. It also strengthened my interest in education and encouraged me to continue developing my understanding of academic research.

4. When did you join RAR Institute, and what motivated you to begin your studies?

Answer:
I joined RAR Institute on 20 April 2025. I was motivated to join because I wanted to develop my academic knowledge, reporting and writing skills, research abilities, teaching skills, and understanding of community challenges.

I was also motivated by my desire to improve my confidence, leadership abilities, and critical-thinking skills. Most importantly, I wanted to gain knowledge that I could apply in real-life situations and use education and research to make a positive contribution to my community.

5. What were your academic knowledge, confidence, and skills like before joining RAR Institute?

Answer:
Before joining RAR Institute, I had basic academic knowledge, confidence, and research skills, but I knew that I still had many things to learn. I was interested in education and wanted to develop my research and learning abilities. I successfully passed the RAR Institute entrance examination, which increased my confidence and encouraged me to continue my academic development. Since joining RAR Institute, I have improved my research skills, academic knowledge, publication skills, and critical-thinking abilities.

6. What challenges did you face when you first started your studies at RAR Institute?

Answer:
When I first started my studies at RAR Institute, one of my main challenges was attending classes regularly because of network and internet problems. Sometimes, poor connectivity made it difficult to join online classes, hear the instructors clearly, or communicate with instructors and classmates. Completing and submitting assignments on time was also sometimes difficult, particularly when weather conditions affected electricity and mobile charging. Despite these challenges, I continued making my best efforts to manage the difficulties and remain committed to my studies.

7. How have your academic confidence and participation developed since joining RAR Institute?

Answer:
Since joining RAR Institute, my academic confidence has developed significantly. I have become more comfortable participating in classes, sharing my ideas, asking questions, and discussing academic topics with others. I also feel more confident completing assignments and expressing my opinions. The learning environment and regular academic activities have encouraged me to participate more actively and effectively in my studies.

8. What important knowledge and skills have you gained from the Diploma in Academic Research Studies?

Answer:
I have gained valuable knowledge and skills through the Diploma in Academic Research Studies. I have learned about research methods, data collection, academic writing, literature reviews, academic sources, referencing, and critical thinking.

I have also learned how to identify reliable information and research problems and how to apply evidence to understand community challenges. These skills have helped me become more confident and capable in academic research.

9. How has the Diploma programme improved your understanding of research methodology and academic research?

Answer:
The Diploma programme has greatly improved my understanding of research methodology and academic research. I have learned about different research approaches, data collection methods, research questionnaires, source evaluation, and different ways of conducting research.

I now have a clearer understanding of how to plan, organise, conduct, and present research in a proper and systematic academic manner.

10. How has your academic writing, referencing, critical thinking, and research skills developed?

Answer:
My academic writing, referencing, critical thinking, and research skills have gradually improved through my studies at RAR Institute. I have learned how to organize my ideas clearly, write academic responses, use appropriate sources, think critically, and evaluate information.

Regular assignments and research activities have helped me develop these skills and apply them with greater confidence in my academic work.

11. How has your ability to search for, evaluate, and use academic sources improved?

Answer:
My ability to search for, evaluate, and use academic sources has developed significantly. I have learned how to use suitable keywords, check the credibility of sources, identify reliable and relevant academic information, and use evidence accurately in assignments and research projects.

These skills have made my academic work more accurate and understandable.

12. What have you learned through assignments, presentations, examinations, research projects, and classroom activities?

Answer:
Through assignments, presentations, examinations, research projects, and classroom activities, I have learned how to research topics, analyse information, present my ideas clearly, and think critically. These activities have also helped me develop my presentation and speaking skills, confidence, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and academic writing skills.

13. How have RAR Institute instructors and designated course instructors supported and guided your academic development?

Answer:
The RAR-Institute semester-wise instructors and professors have supported my development through effective teaching, constructive feedback, research guidance, and continuous encouragement. Their support has helped me improve my academic writing, critical thinking, research, presentation, and confidence. Their guidance has also motivated me to become a more independent, responsible, and active learner.

14. Which instructor, course, lesson, or academic activity has had the greatest positive impact on your development, and why?

Answer:
The research and academic source evaluation lessons have had the greatest positive impact on my development at RAR-Institute. These lessons have helped me strengthen my research skills, academic knowledge, critical thinking, and confidence. I have learned how to identify reliable information, understand community challenges, and develop ideas based on evidence. These lessons have encouraged me to continue developing my research and educational abilities so that I can contribute positively to my community.

15. How have your communication, presentation, public-speaking, teamwork, and leadership skills improved?

Answer:
Since joining RAR Institute, my communication, public-speaking, teamwork, leadership, and presentation skills have improved significantly. I have become more confident in sharing my ideas and speaking in front of others. Through group activities and research-related tasks, I have learned how to work effectively with others, listen to different opinions, and take responsibility. These experiences have strengthened my confidence, teamwork, and leadership abilities.

16. What major academic achievement, milestone, or personal improvement have you experienced since joining RAR Institute?

Answer:
One of my major achievements since joining RAR Institute has been the significant improvement in my academic research skills and confidence. I have learned how to search for reliable academic sources, think critically, evaluate information, and understand community challenges through research. I have also become more confident in presenting my ideas and participating in academic research activities. These developments represent important milestones in my educational journey.

17. How has your education at RAR Institute influenced your future academic, career, and community goals?

Answer:
My education at RAR Institute has given me valuable academic knowledge, confidence, and research skills for my future. It has motivated me to pursue higher education and develop a career related to research, education, and community development. I also want to use the knowledge and skills I have gained to better understand community issues, support young people, and contribute positively to the development and empowerment of my community.

18. Looking back from the day you joined RAR Institute until today, how would you describe your overall academic, personal, and professional development?

Answer:
Since joining RAR Institute, I have made meaningful progress in my academic, personal, and professional development. I have strengthened my research, communication, critical-thinking, and presentation skills. I have also become more confident, motivated, and responsible in my learning.

RAR Institute has helped me understand how education and research can be applied to identify community challenges and support practical, evidence-based decisions. Overall, I feel better prepared for my future studies, professional development, and contributions to my community.

My Academic Journey at RAR Institute

My journey at RAR Institute has been an important part of my academic, personal, and professional development. Since joining the Institute, I have strengthened my knowledge of academic research and developed greater confidence in academic writing, research, source evaluation, communication, presentation, and critical thinking.

Although I initially faced challenges with internet connectivity and participating regularly in online classes, I remained committed to continuing my education. RAR Institute has helped me understand how education and research can be applied to identify community challenges and support practical, evidence-based decisions. The knowledge and skills I have gained through this journey have strengthened my confidence and prepared me for further education, professional development, and meaningful contributions to my community. My goal is to continue developing my abilities in research and education and use them to support the development and empowerment of Rohingya youth and my wider community.
