The Rohingya Academic Research Institute (RAR Institute) is pleased to announce PS05 – Basic Digital Skills, a core course in Semester One of the Associate Degree in Political Science, to be delivered by Mr. Fahim Abrar Abid in his capacity as a Volunteer Professor at RAR Institute.
The course is designed to provide students with practical digital skills that support academic learning, research, communication, information management, and future professional development.
Course Topics
The course covers five key areas:
- Introduction to Digital Literacy
- Digital Tools for Academic Study
- Online Research and Information Management
- Digital Citizenship, Social Media & Political Communication
- Data Management and Digital Presentation Skills
Through these sessions, students will develop foundational skills in using digital tools for academic purposes, conducting online research, managing information, communicating responsibly in digital spaces, and presenting academic information effectively.
About the Volunteer Professor
Mr. Fahim Abrar Abid is the Executive Director of the Bangladesh Society of International Law (BSIL) and serves as Country Consultant for Bangladesh and India at the Institute for Human Rights, China University of Political Science and Law. He is also a Rapporteur at Oxford International Organizations and serves as Legal Advisor at Aurora Holdings Limited.
A Public International Lawyer from Bangladesh and an Erasmus Mundus Scholar, Mr. Fahim holds an LLM in International Law of Global Security, Peace and Development from the University of Glasgow, UK, along with postgraduate degrees from IBEI, Barcelona, Spain, and the University of Tartu, Estonia. His academic interests include human rights, refugee rights, international law, and climate justice.
His research has been published by leading academic publishers and institutions, including Oxford University Press, Harvard and Cambridge international law journals, Brill, Routledge, Bloomsbury, Springer, and SAGE.
As a practitioner, Mr. Fahim has provided more than 70 expert opinions to UK and US immigration tribunals. He has also served in a range of editorial, research, and academic roles, including:
- Managing Editor, Bangladesh Journal of International Law
- Managing Editor, Bangladesh Blog of International Law
- Rapporteur, Oxford International Organizations
- Country Contributor (Spain), Yearbook of International Environmental Law, Oxford University Press
- Board Member, Poliscope Institute Think Tank
- Editor, University of Tartu Journal of International Law and Human Rights
Previously, he worked as Coordinator of the Bangladesh Campaign at Global Human Rights Defence, Netherlands, and held academic and research roles with the Global Campus of Human Rights, Italy; University of Colombo, Sri Lanka; and the Open Society University Network, USA.
A High Distinction graduate of BRAC University, Bangladesh, Mr. Fahim has also completed specialized diplomas and academic training in international law, critical theory, and conflict-related sexual violence through institutions including LMU Munich, Birkbeck, and Tilburg University.
