π About the Speaker:
Ms. Tahmina Akter is a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Connecticut (UConn), USA, specializing in Comparative Politics and International Relations. She also serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at UConn.
She holds an M.A. in Political Science from UConn and previously earned an M.Phil., M.S., and B.S.S. from the University of Dhaka. Currently, she is also an Assistant Professor at Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST), Sylhet.
Her MPhil research, βSecuritization of Rohingyas in Myanmar,β explored how Burmese elites framed the Rohingya minority as a securitized βother.β Her current doctoral research deepens this inquiry through a broader lens of authoritarianism and ethnic repression.
