RAR Institute – Research Diploma Program Weekly Lecture

We are truly honored to welcome Mr. Muhammad FAHIM, Doctoral Fellow at the School of Media, Film, and Journalism, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, to our weekly lecture series as part of the RAR Institute Research Diploma Program.

During this session, Mr. FAHIM will lecture on:
“Airtime Allocation in Conflict Coverage: Content Analysis as Methodology”

This topic is very important for our emerging researchers, as it sheds light on how media frames conflicts and guides learners on how to apply content analysis as a powerful methodology. Understanding airtime allocation is vital to uncovering bias, framing, and narrative construction in conflict reporting—skills essential for producing credible, ethical, and academically robust research.

👨‍🎓 About the Speaker – Mr Muhammad FAHIM

Mr Muhammad FAHIM is affiliated with the School of Media, Film, and Journalism at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia as a doctoral fellow. Formerly, Mr. FAHIM was a prestigious Türkiye Bursları Fellow and an Erasmus+ Scholar in Media and Communication Studies at Ankara University, Turkey, and Károli Gáspár University in Budapest, Hungary.

He has also served as a researcher at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Turkey, and held notable research positions with various institutions across Turkey and Pakistan.

His academic journey has taken him across borders, with research endeavors in Hungary, Turkey, and Germany under the auspices of Erasmus+ and Türkiye Bursları grants.

Mr. Fahim’s research is multidisciplinary, encompassing:
🔹 Digital religion
🔹 Media and conflict
🔹 Humanitarian journalism
🔹 Media and education
🔹 Strategic communication
🔹 Soft power and state communication
🔹 International relations

Currently, he has two forthcoming books under publication with esteemed American and German publishers. His scholarly contributions include:

📘 War, Humanity and Media: The Middle Eastern Media on the Russia-Ukraine War (Ankara University Press, 2025)

📑 Multiple refereed journal articles in prestigious journals such as Communication & Society (SCOPUS Q1) and The Arab World Geographer (SCOPUS Q3).

His work has also been presented at major international conferences, including STaPs-21 and STaPs-22 at Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Hungary.
