RAR Institute is honored to host Dr. Saeyd Rashed Hasan Chowdury, Assistant Professor, Department of Basic Islamic Sciences (Sufism), Faculty of Theology, Bartin University, Bartin, Turkey, as part of our program series titled “The Importance of Spirituality in Shaping the Identity and Well-being of Today’s Youth: Addressing the Challenges of Secularism, Materialism, and Digital Disconnection.

Dr. Saeyd Rashed Hasan Chowdury is currently employed as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Theology at Bartin University in Bartin, Turkey. He completed his PhD degree from the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences (Sufism), Graduate School of Social Sciences, Ankara University, Turkey, with the thesis “Preserving Inner Peace in Islam in the Context of the Sufi-Salafi Conflict in the Indian Subcontinent.” In addition, he achieved a perfect score of 4.00 out of 4.00 in his PhD coursework, ranking first (1000 out of 1000 marks) at the Graduate School of Social Sciences, Ankara University, Turkey.

In 2016, he was awarded a Turkish Government Scholarship and pursued his second Master’s
degree in Social Sciences at the Institute of Social Sciences, Ankara University. He graduated with the highest CGPA (4.00 out of 4.00) and first position, achieving 966 marks out of 1000 marks in the 2018-2019 postgraduate examination at the Graduate School of Social Sciences.

As a result, he was honoured with the Most Meritorious Student Award (2019) by the
Honourable Turkish President, Mr Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as the first Bangladeshi recipient.

Dr. Chowdury also received the “Dean’s Merit List of Honour Award” for his bachelor’s and the “Dean’s Merit List of Excellence Award” for his master’s results from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Additionally, he was awarded the Dr Syed M. Saidur Rahman Al Mahbubi Gold Medal (2015) by the President of Bangladesh, Mr Abdul Hamid, for securing the top position in the Master of Arts results at the University of Dhaka, with the highest CGPA of 4.00 out of 4.00. Furthermore, he completed a two-year master’s degree in the Department of Hadith from the Islamic University of Kushtia in Bangladesh.

In 2017, Dr. Chowdury was awarded the “Gold Medal” by the Kirsehir Metropolitan Municipality, Turkey, for his exceptional performance in the international student competition. He also conducted research in his field for a month at the University of Gdansk in Poland in 2017. In 2018, he participated in the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Summer School program at the University of Erfurt, Germany, and attended the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Youth Media Capacity Building Summer Conference & Camp in the same year. Dr. Chowdury has been interviewed by many prominent daily newspapers and television channels in both Asia and Europe.

Since 2017, he has served as the Director (Program) and School Coordinator for the Religion
and Humanity Studies at the Center for Research and Policy Studies (CenRaPS). He is also the Assistant Editor of the International Journal of Social, Political and Economic Research (IJoSPER) and the CenRaPS Journal of Social Sciences. In 2022, he received a scholarship from Qatar University, participated in their Arabic program, and achieved a B2-level certificate.

Dr. Chowdury has published 31 peer-reviewed research articles, indexed in Web of Science and Scopus (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4), as well as conference papers, book chapters, and a book. His work has been published in various countries, including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Turkey, Cyprus, the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Croatia, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
