Kawsara BiBi delivered an important speech that reflected her journey, her struggles and her hope for the future.
She shared that after completing her matriculation, she began teaching Rohingya children and spent more than a year. During that time, she realized how powerful education truly is not only for children, but for the entire community. Her dedication and love for learning later gave her the opportunity to study at the Asian University for Women (AUW), where she is currently continuing her higher education while also being enrolled in two year the RAR Institute Diploma Program.
She spoke about how, alongside her studies at AUW, she always tried to learn new skills and gain knowledge from different institutions. When she heard about the RAR Institute Refugee Law Short Course, she applied with hope and determination. After joining the course, she gained a deep understanding of Refugee Law, but more importantly, she said the course helped her understand herself who she is, where she comes from, and what responsibility she carries as a Rohingya woman.
With this new confidence, she decided to take another step forward by enrolling in the two-year diploma program at the Rohingya Academic Research (RAR) Institute, which she is now pursuing alongside her studies at AUW.
In her speech, Kaswsara made an emotional call to Rohingya parents, especially urging them to educate their daughters. She reminded them that a child’s future depends on education, and when mothers are denied learning opportunities, their daughters are more likely to remain uneducated as well. She expressed deep gratitude to her parents for supporting her education, standing strong against criticism, and never allowing society’s negative voices to stop her journey.
She ended her speech by thanking the RAR Institute from the bottom of her heart for creating educational opportunities for Rohingya students. She said these opportunities are not only shaping individuals, but also helping preserve Rohingya history and identity, and building an educated and empowered community for the next generation.
